The 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted alongside another person along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo have regained their freedom, RaveNewsOnline reports.

The victims were kidnapped while travelling to the NYSC orientation camp in the state.

Channels Television reports that the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention at the Department of State Services (DSS) Hospital in Owerri.

Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, NYSC Director-General, is at the facility, where he is addressing the rescued prospective corps members.

Nafiu arrived at the DSS clinic alongside the Imo Commissioner of Police, the state Director of the DSS and the Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade, Imo.

The development followed concerns over the safety of prospective corps members travelling to their various orientation camps.

Further details on how the victims were rescued and their current condition were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
