    NPC Chairman Aminu Yusuf Wushishi Dies After Brief Illness

    The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Aminu Yusuf Wushishi, is dead.

    Wushishi reportedly died on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, after a brief illness.

    News of his death reached Minna, the Niger State capital, around the time of the Juma’at prayer.

    Confirming the development, Wushishi’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Stanley Nwosu, said the NPC chairman died after a brief illness.

    “Yes, it is true. The NPC chairman died after a brief illness,” Nwosu said.

    Until his appointment as NPC chairman, Wushishi was a former Secretary of the Niger State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    He officially assumed office as Chairman of the National Population Commission on Dec. 2, 2025.

    Details of his burial arrangements were yet to be announced as of the time of filing this report.
