NIS Announces Passport Intervention Exercise in Four UK Cities

The Federal Government has announced the dates and venues for a special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.

The exercise, organised by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), will take place in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff as part of efforts to address pending passport applications and improve access to passport services for Nigerians in the diaspora.

The intervention follows the deployment of a Passport Intervention Team from the NIS headquarters in Abuja. The team was deployed on the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, following consultations with the Nigerian High Commission and representatives of Nigerian communities in the UK.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the NIS Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the exercise in London and Manchester will run from September 7 to 19, 2026.

In London, the exercise will be held at Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW, while the Manchester exercise will take place at Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE.

The intervention team will subsequently move to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to 26, 2026.

The Aberdeen exercise will be held at the Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR, while the Cardiff exercise will take place at Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR.

The NIS urged eligible Nigerians in the four cities and surrounding areas to take advantage of the exercise to apply for new passports, renew existing ones or resolve pending applications.

However, applicants are required to complete their applications and make payment through the NIS Passport Application portal before visiting their selected venue.

Applicants are expected to present their completed application forms, payment slips as proof of payment, appointment slips and a self-addressed return envelope.

Those applying for passport renewal must also present their current passports.

The NIS warned that cash payments would not be accepted at the venues, stressing that applicants who arrive with cash would not be attended to.

The Service also encouraged applicants to cooperate with its officials to ensure the exercise runs smoothly and orderly.

It added that its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, remain operational. Home delivery of passports is also available.

For enquiries and assistance relating to the London exercise, applicants can contact the NIS via [email protected] or its WhatsApp-only line at +234 916 087 8000.

The NIS said the intervention exercise is part of its broader efforts to improve passport service delivery and provide assistance to Nigerians living abroad.
