National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has thwarted an attempt by convicted drug kingpin Olashupo Michael Oladimeji to smuggle 1.10 kilograms of cocaine to London, United Kingdom, from Ikoyi Correctional Centre where he is serving a five-year sentence.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed in a statement on Sunday that operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) export shed in Ikeja intercepted the consignment on Thursday, February 12, 2026. The compressed cocaine blocks were concealed in a sack of garri (processed cassava granules), further packed inside a carton destined for a Virgin Atlantic flight.
Oladimeji, CEO of Dimeji Express Logistics at 20 Omilade Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, was jailed in 2025 by a Federal High Court (charge FHC/L/925C/2025) for conspiring to export 17.90kg of cocaine. Undeterred, he orchestrated the latest scheme from prison, directing staffer Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan—who presented the consignment—to collect it from an Oshodi location.
Gbolahan was promptly arrested upon interception, with investigations confirming Oladimeji’s remote involvement in the plot despite incarceration.
This seizure underscores NDLEA’s vigilance at key export points and the agency’s ongoing battle against persistent narcotics traffickers, even those behind bars.
