NBS Website Remains Down 3 Weeks After Hack – Ravenewsonline

National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) website has remained shut nearly three weeks after it was hacked on December 18, 20242.

This has raised concerns as the December inflation report, expected to be released on January 15, 2025, might be delayed.

The hack occurred shortly after the NBS published its Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey, which revealed that Nigerians paid an estimated N2.3 trillion as ransom in 12 months13.

Efforts to restore the website are ongoing, but no specific timeframe has been provided.

The incident has highlighted the importance of cybersecurity, with the NBS allocating N35 million for cybersecurity in its 2025 budget
