MTN Nigeria Pays Over ₦6.9 Trillion in Taxes

    MTN

MTN Nigeria says it has paid more than ₦6.9 trillion in taxes, levies and duties to the Federal and State Governments, underscoring its role as one of the nation’s largest corporate taxpayers.

The telecommunications company said the contribution reflects its fiscal partnership with government and supports critical sectors of the economy at a time of ongoing economic reforms.

MTN noted that its nation-building efforts extend beyond tax remittances. The firm is currently rehabilitating the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway under the Road Infrastructure Tax Credit (RITC) scheme, with the project reported to be 50 per cent complete.

According to its latest financial results, service revenue grew by 57.5 per cent to ₦3.7 trillion, while Profit After Tax stood at ₦750.2 billion, reversing the previous year’s loss. The company said this performance demonstrates its resilience and profitability.

MTN also highlighted its social investments, stating that over ₦32.23 billion has been committed through the MTN Foundation to national priorities such as youth empowerment and digital literacy.

The company’s board has approved an interim dividend of ₦5.00 per share, benefitting its wide shareholder base, which includes Nigerian Pension Funds representing more than 10 million contributors.
