    Medical Assistant commits suicide inside medical center in Lagos

    A health assistant simply identified as Victoria committed suicide inside a medical center where she worked in the Surulere area of Lagos state on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

    The police in the Surulere Police Division received a report from the Medical Director of the Health center where she worked that on the said day, late Victoria was not seen in her duty post.

    The medical director told the police that after several attempts to reach her, they heard her phone ringing inside a room in the hospital. All attempts to open the door failed as the deceased had already locked the door from inside. The medical director told the police that a carpenter was called in and the door was forced open. He said her lifeless body was then discovered on the bed.

    The DPO of the division who arrived at the scene of the incident, discovered different types of drugs, some injections and syringes around the deceased. It is believed she used the substances to take her life as no sign of injury was detected on her body.

    Her body has since been deposited in the morgue.

    The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to LIB and said an investigation has since commenced.
