    Man Beats Wife to Death in Adamawa Over 1,000 Naira

    Barely a week after Adamawa police apprehended a man for beating his wife to death, a similar incident reoccurred in the state.

    Hammawa Usman, 41, of Jada Ward, Ganye Town, Ganye Local Government Area, is currently under police net for killing his 36-year-old wife, Rabiyatu Usman, in a dispute involving N 1,000 .

    Police spokesperson DSP Sulaiman Nguroje confirmed the incident in a statement he released to Yola on Thursday.

    Nguroje said the suspect engaged Rabiyatu in a fight when she demanded reimbursement of her N1,000.

    “The suspect reacted angrily by banging her head against the wall… she fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital where she was later confirmed dead.

    “The suspect was apprehended by police following a report received from a relative of the deceased and a Good Samaritan,” Nguroje said.

    He said the investigation revealed that the suspect, an official with the Ganye Local Government Council, had five children with the deceased after 16 years of marriage.

    Aliyu Alhaji, police commissioner, praised residents and the police for speaking out and making it impossible for Usman not to escape justice.

    He ordered a quiet investigation into the case to ensure the suspect is prosecuted.

    He called on residents to always report suspicious characters in their neighborhood to the police.

    On July 16, a similar incident occurred when a 40-year-old man from Bodere village in the local government area of ​​Fufore was arrested for beating his pregnant wife to death, in a dispute involving 1000 N. (NAN)
