Six people have been confirmed dead following a fatal motor accident along the Yola-Girei Road in Adamawa State on Friday.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

According to the police, a preliminary report showed that six people died in the crash after the victims were rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Following the accident, police operatives from the Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing and the Central Motor Traffic Division were deployed to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore the free flow of traffic.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, condoled with the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls.

Hassan also urged motorists to remain calm and exercise caution on the road, stressing the need to obey traffic regulations and avoid excessive speeding to prevent further accidents.

The PUNCH gathered that the latest crash is the fourth major accident recorded along the Yola-Girei Road in less than a month, with more than 10 people reportedly killed during the period.
