Lagos Police Reacts to Reports of Baby Allegedly Abducted by Dispatch Rider

Ravenewsonline.com reports that the Lagos State Police Command has announced that it will investigate reports of a yet-to-be-identified dispatch rider who was discovered with a baby in his courier box.

According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, on Saturday morning, March 12, the incident, which was said to have occurred in the Sangotedo area of Lekki, was not reported at any police station, allowing the police to take appropriate action.

He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has directed that efforts should be intensified to locate the whereabouts of the alleged dispatch rider and the parents or guardians of the child to enable the police to investigate the incident.

This online media platform earlier reported that a courier rider in Lagos State was apprehended after a baby was allegedly discovered inside his courier box.

According to online reports, the incident occurred on Friday, March 11 in Lagos’ Sangotedo Area.

A video of the incident circulated on the internet, showing the rider being assaulted by a mob before being dragged to a police station.

“This is the kidnapped child,” one of the people in the background was heard saying.

The state police command has not yet responded to the incident.
