Jimmy Kimmel Roasts Trump Over UN “Sabotage” Claims and Escalator Mishap

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back in mocking President Donald Trump after Trump claimed he was the target of “triple sabotage” during his recent visit to the United Nations General Assembly.

The drama began when Trump and First Lady Melania stepped onto an escalator inside the UN building—only for it to stop mid-way. Trump later took to Truth Social, alleging sabotage involving the escalator, a faulty teleprompter, and poor audio, even suggesting that those responsible “should be arrested.”

Kimmel, 57, responded with a cheeky Instagram post on Friday, September 26, featuring his sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez at the top of a working escalator with the caption: “Headed to Brooklyn! Escalator is working great!”—a direct jab at Trump’s complaints.

On his show, Kimmel continued the satire, poking fun at Trump’s dramatic reaction and his claim that Melania’s fitness prevented a serious incident. Trump had called the escalator failure “a real disgrace.”

Kimmel also addressed Trump’s online rant about ABC reinstating him after a suspension. “You can’t believe they gave me my job back? I can’t believe they gave you your job back! We’re even,” he quipped.

The comedian wrapped up his segment by calling Trump a “bully,” explaining his frequent jabs: “I talk about Trump more than anything because he’s a bully. I don’t like bullies.”
