NESREA, NCC, ALTON, NLNG Lead Stakeholders to ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue 2025

A powerful and necessary coalition of Nigeria’s foremost environmental, telecommunications, and energy stakeholders is set to convene for the 2025 ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue.

The annual event, hosted by ITREALMS Media Inc., will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the prestigious Welcome Centre Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos.

The crucial dialogue aims to transition the national conversation on electronic waste (e-waste) from mere awareness to actionable national policy to urgently tackle Nigeria’s estimated 1.2 million tonnes of annual e-waste, under the theme “Nigeria: Recycle your e-waste – it’s critical!”.

The 2025 E-Waste Dialogue will feature high-level participation from key regulatory and industry bodies, including the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN) and Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).

NESREA, as the primary regulator, focuses on enforcing the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programme, while the NCC is vital for addressing e-waste generated from the rapidly growing ICT sector. The Keynote Address, “NESREA and Recycling e-waste – critical mission for Nigeria!”, will be delivered by the DG, NESREA, Professor Aliyu Jauro.

According to the Group Executive Editor of ITREALMS Media Inc., and Convener of the E-Waste Dialogue, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, the support from ALTON, IXPN and NLNG signifies a major corporate commitment to integrating Environmental Sustainability and Governance (ESG) into industry standards for responsible equipment disposal and recycling.

The event’s urgent theme, Ogbuefi Nweke said, underscores the imperative for immediate, collective action across regulators, industry leaders, recyclers, and civil society to craft a unified national strategy for sustainable e-waste management.

Nweke also pointed out the potential impact, stating, “The sheer volume of e-waste demands immediate, collective action. The message this year is blunt: recycling is critical. We are honored by the support from ALTON and NLNG, whose leadership is crucial to elevating this dialogue to a national imperative.”

ALTON Chairman, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, is expected to lead a delegation to offer key insights on the theme as it specifically impacts the telecom sector. Engr. Adebayo would be joined in the pivotal panel session on “Stakeholders Role: Recycle your e-waste – it’s critical!” by the Managing Director of IXPN, Mr. Muhammed Rudman, Executive Secretary, EPRON, Mrs. Ibukun Faluyi, and the Head, Environment at NLNG, Mr. Weyimi Metseagharun, alongside an NCC Representative.

The event promises a thorough examination of the challenges and opportunities within the e-waste circular economy, paving the way for definitive, sector-wide policy recommendations.

The Dialogue takes place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM at the Welcome Centre Hotels, International Airport Road, Ikeja, Lagos, as participants are enjoined to come along with the old electronic gadgets for professional disposition by Globetech Remedial Limited, the official e-waste collector for this year.
