    ICT Institute will Boost Digital Economy, Create Jobs – Sen. Odey

    Senator Stephen Odey, representing Cross River North in the Senate, reaffirmed his commitment to job creation through information and communications technologies (ICT).

    The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the Senate has passed the bill sponsored by Senator Odey to establish the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Ogoja.

    Odey said in Abuja on Friday that his ICT bill was based on the need to accelerate economic development through digitization.

    He reiterated his determination to accompany President Muhammadu Buhari’s giant strides in the digital economy, stressing that “there are growing needs to harness the advantages offered by ICTs”.

    Odey stressed the imperatives of driving a digital economy aimed at leaving no one behind in accordance with the demands of the 21st century.

    “We are taking the path of President Buhari who renamed the Ministry of Communication into the Ministry of Communication and the Digital Economy.

    “The institution will provide faculty and encourage research in all fields of interest to aid the development of Nigeria in the fields of industry, commerce, technology and engineering,” he said. declared.

    The senator, however, expressed optimism that the institution would provide appropriate training and professional dexterity to self-sufficient and focused Nigerian students.

    According to him, the Ogoja Center will also provide vocational skills to Nigerian youth.

    The senator recalled that the Senate had adopted on July 7 a bill establishing the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Ogoja, Cross River. (NAN)
