Gunmen Attack Peter Obi, ADC Leaders at Oyegun’s Residence in Edo

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi, ex-APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftains escaped a gun attack by suspected thugs Tuesday during Olumide Akpata’s formal ADC declaration in Benin City, Edo State.

Obi’s Obidient Movement coordinator Yunusa Tanko said armed assailants trailed their convoy from the ADC secretariat to Oyegun’s home, shooting up the gate and damaging vehicles in an apparent assassination bid; no fatalities reported, but injuries occurred with police responding.

Videos show bullet-riddled SUVs and gates; Obi addressed the chaos post-attack, calling it a threat to democracy amid rising political tensions.

Edo Police have yet to comment, as Governor Douye Diri oversees probe.
