To support sustainable community development, the MTN Foundation, on Friday, 13 May 2022, officially handed over medical equipment to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, Gombe State.

The Foundation provided two complete sets of dental chairs, two gynaecology endoscopy operation sets, and an ENT (Ear, Nose and throat) console workstation with a treatment accessories unit to aid treatments.

“What the MTN Foundation has done today shows partnership and collaboration between the government and the private sector. Initiatives like this are beneficial to both the recipients and the donors; as you know, MTN is the number one most successful company in the telecommunications sector in Nigeria,” said Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, while making his remarks at the handover event. “We are thankful to the MTN Foundation for providing this equipment to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe State, and we encourage other organisations to emulate them,” he added.

“We believe that our success as a business is tied to the well-being of the people in communities where we operate. As such, we are always seeking collaborative opportunities to work with the Government and improve the quality of lives in our society,” said Odunayo Sanya, the Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation.

In his closing remark, Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe State, Dr. Yusuf Abdullahi, thanked MTN Foundation for the donation. “We are very excited at the receipt of this equipment. The hospital serves parts of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Kano, Taraba and Yobe, so they serve a significant number of Northern Nigerians, and for this, we are grateful.”

Since its inception in 2004, the MTN Foundation has impacted over 2500 communities and over 30 million Nigerians across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria through its different community development initiatives.
