FEC steps down minimum wage memo for consultations

    FEC

Federal Executive Council (FEC) postponed the decision on the new minimum wage during their meeting on Tuesday, June 25.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, informed State House Correspondents that all 39 items on the agenda were addressed.

Regarding the minimum wage, Idris explained that the tripartite committee, which includes representatives from local government, states, the NLC/TUC, and the federal government, submitted a report along with a memo.

However, the council could not make a decision on the minimum wage due to the involvement of multiple stakeholders: local governments, states, the federal government, the organized private sector, and labour unions.

Idris added that the memo was postponed to allow President Bola Tinubu to conduct extensive consultations before making a final submission to the National Assembly.
