A magistrate court sitting in Kuje, Abuja, has ordered the remand of Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and his lead counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor.
They were among 13 individuals arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held in Abuja on Monday. The demonstration was organised to demand the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, who remains in detention despite multiple court rulings ordering his release.
Other detainees include Fineboy Kanu, Barrister Okere, and ten additional protesters. They were reportedly taken to the SARS Abattoir facility before being arraigned in court on Tuesday.
The police charged the group with breach of public peace, citing a court order restricting protests in certain areas of the Federal Capital Territory.
The protest disrupted activities across Abuja, with reports of traffic gridlock and restricted access to government buildings.
