Clubhouse Adds Room Composer, NSFW and Audience Count Following Support for Nigerian Languages

Clubhouse – the social audio app – has announced the addition of Room Composer, an NSFW (Not Safe For Work) toggle, and Audience Count.

The new features are designed to elevate the creators’ experience and will make it easier than ever to create or schedule live rooms, gives users a choice on what appears in their hallway and offers analytical insights. The features follow the announcement of support for 3 Nigerian languages – Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba – aimed at making the platform more accessible to all Nigerians who don’t speak English or who simply prefer local-language alternatives.

Room Composer

Room Composer revamps the way users can create rooms. Now, when you select “Start a Room”, you’ll see more options and decide if you want to start a private, social, or public room and can even start rooms with a Club you’re part of or send a private room link to someone. You’ll still be able to turn Replays on or off during this stage (for public rooms only), but now you can also add pinned links, topics, denote a language, decide if hand-raising is allowed, and set audio quality, all before you open the room.

The updates to Room Composer make it easier than ever to create rooms. These updates give creators the chance to set up their rooms before going live, making it easier than ever to host conversations on Clubhouse.

NSFW

We always say Clubhouse is for everyone, but we know not everyone may want to see all the rooms that appear in their hallway. The NSFW toggle lets you tell Clubhouse that you don’t want to see NSFW rooms, giving you more control over what you see in your hallway. If you don’t want to see rooms that are marked NSFW, head over to Settings, and then click your name. You’ll then be able to toggle “Hide NSFW Rooms” and you’ll no longer see them in your hallway. We’re also adding NSFW tags to rooms in the hallway to make it easier to decide if you want to join these rooms or not.

Creators can also tell Clubhouse if their rooms are NSFW, which will help them attract an audience that’s interested in these rooms and are hiding their rooms from the people who may not want to see them.

Audience Count

And finally, total Audience Count has been a hit for creators (and a hit for everyone watching Replays as well), so Clubhouse is rolling it out to everyone! This means that anyone who joins a room will be able to see the total number of people who have passed through that room. Creators will also see total Replay counts, which show how many people have listened to a Replay. This is the first step of many more analytics features Clubhouse will be rolling out to the community soon. Currently, creators can see total attendee counts, replay counts, and how many people are in a live room.
