Four Cool Features for Podcasters on Clubhouse

The size of the global podcasting market is estimated to reach USD 94.88 billion by 2028, expanding at an estimated compounded annual growth rate of 31.1% from 2021 to 2028, according to data from ResearchAndMarkets.com.

In Africa, podcast consumption is fast becoming a growing trend in many countries, including Nigeria, as it allows the listener to multitask.

Spotify data shows that Nigeria has over 2.9 million podcast titles available to listeners in the country – though people are listening to a mixture of local and foreign podcasts.

Whilst the podcast industry in Nigeria is growing, there’s a consensus that resources are required for Nigerian podcasts to match the quality and consistency of global standards. Currently, podcasts backed by media houses have access to such resources.

Enter live social audio platforms – made popular during the pandemic when audiences desired interacting with the rest of the world. These platforms may well be the work around that podcasters need.

Live social audio platforms do not only have the passive listening capability of podcasts, but also the exposure that comes with social media across the globe.

Live social audio platform, Clubhouse, is leading the charge in this area. Clubhouse is an audio platform with enhanced features for content creators. So, creators do not have to worry about costly equipment set up in the first instance.

These audio features include Clips, Replays, Spatial Audio and Pinned Links. With over 700,000 rooms created daily, the platform offers creators an opportunity to promote their work with a global audience.

These four features will give your podcasts a professional feel and get you on your way to monetising your craft.

Spatial Audio

Spatial Audio is a feature that makes Clubhouse members feel more immersed in the conversation or room they’re listening to by making the speakers sound like they’re spaced throughout the room.

Clips

Clips makes it easier for creators to share great moments and grow their audiences on Clubhouse by allowing you to share 30-second clips of public rooms. This is done so more people can discover the room by sharing a preview of the room with others or capture an incredible moment that just happened .

When you start a room, you can choose whether you want clips enabled but it will be on by default for open/public rooms, and creators can toggle them off anytime.

The feature is not available for private, social or club rooms. When enabled, users will be able to grab a Clip of the past 30 seconds. People can share Clips of a show to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, iMessage, or WhatsApp — and even save them to their camera rolls for quick editing first.

Clubhouse also added stereo support to Clips, so any snippets you share from performers using Music Mode will also sound great!

Replays

Podcasters can choose whether they want Replays enabled when they start a room. If the feature is on, the room will be discoverable on Clubhouse for as long as the creator likes — and available for them to download and share anywhere. Replays make it easy to create great audio content, get discovered by others, and grow audience over time.

Pinned links

Pinned Links allow creators to pin a link to the top of their room. For creators, the benefit of Pinned Links is that it allows them to pin important links to the top of a room to give listeners context or to promote their latest work (i.e. book, article, song, etc). For users, the feature gives more context about the room without having to go to a creator’s bio for additional information.

Pinned Links help room creators drive people to subscribe to their Substack, download their podcasts, read their books, discover their new single, buy their product, and support their Patreon page.

If you’re a regular podcaster or aspiring one, these features could well take you from a John Doe, to the next superstar.
