Children’s Day celebration: Skool Media Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Education

Skool Media Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s innovative educational technology company has reaffirmed its commitment in supporting digital learning across Nigerian schools, noting that it is the leeway to competitive and healthy development in 21st century.

Mr. Sola Oluwadare, head, Corporate Communications, Skool Media Nigeria Limited, stated this in a statement to mark 2021 Children’s Day celebration.

According to him, “At Skool Media, being a role model for the adoption of technology in education in Africa and a reference point for Ed-tech stakeholders in Nigeria, we believe that mechanisms should be put in place to ensure that Nigeria children continue to navigate post Covid-19 era without adverse effect on their educational pursuits.

“In the light of this, we commend the Federal Ministry of Education for its past and present efforts and the State Ministries of Education for various initiatives being embarked upon to ensure that our children do not suffer knowledge gap all through this period.

“We use this opportunity to urge all the examination bodies in the country to make the process of registration for various examinations less tedious by applying simple technology strategies that will make it seamless for our students.

“For instance, as the students go through the process of writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), organized by the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Skool Media Nigeria Limited will give its support to JAMB anytime it requires it to put our students on the right path that we will all be proud of.

“We commend JAMB for the annual improvement in the deployment of technology for the registration and conduct of the UTME”.

The educational technology company also called on JAMB to work assiduously with Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to make the exercise hassle-free.

“As a matter of fact, a special window can be opened to warehouse yet to be linked SIMs on the portal to allow these students register for the exams after which the window will be used to link the NIN with the SIM later.
“This should be worked out by the two bodies followed by public enlightenment nationwide. Technology is not a zero-sum process that is devoid of alternative solutions”.

Mr. Oluwadare further explained that Skool Media is committed to plugging the technology/ICT skill gaps in consonance with the emerging digital landscape of the 21st century in educational development.

The Nigerian child, he noted must be prepared to take up the challenges of the modern workplace by developing relevant technology skills capable of making them to compete universally with their contemporaries.

“There is no way students can cope with the next generation of tech giants without rich experience in the use of technological innovations to solve human problems.

“At Skool Media, we will continue to collaborate with the education stakeholders in Nigeria to bridge these gaps.

“With our current infrastructures, Student Technology Experience Centres, Digital Classrooms, Computer Based Test Centre, and other training services, Nigerian students remain strategically positioned to meet the demands of the 21st century.

“We have been demonstrating this by building the capacity of Nigerian educators, especially in secondary schools, to ensure a robust supply of highly skilled students who are able to leverage enterprise opportunities that will make them employable later in life; thereby helping to shrink the unemployment gaps in Nigeria,” he added.
