Buhari Hosts Tinubu, Receives Briefing from Chief of Naval Staff

President Muhammadu Buhari received All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Bola Tinubu at his official residence, State House, Abuja on Sunday.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the closed-door meeting, Tinubu rejected the implication that he was in the presidential villa discussing politics with the president.

He said, however, that his Sunday mission at the seat of power was to thank Mr Buhari for visiting him as he recovered from surgery at his residence in London.

He said: “I came only to thank, first of all, the President for visiting my residence in London when I was… after the operation, and wishing me good luck, cheering me up.
Indeed, what an exceptional leader will do.

“That’s why I came and to welcome him back from Saudi Arabia’s trip

“No politics, just a courtesy call, thanking him greatly, that’s all.”

Nigeria‘s news agency reports that Buhari visited the APC chief in London on August 13.

The President, who had remained in London after attending the Global Education Summit on Financing the Global Partnership for Education (GPE 2021-2025), returned to Mr. Tinubu what had been described by some as a “surprise and unexpected visit”.

NAN reports that the President also received a briefing from the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo, at the Presidential Villa on Sunday.

“I am here to ask for Mr. President’s blessing to honor the Nigerian Navy by commissioning the locally built 3 boat, which is one of three that we are building by navy shipyard staff. Nigerian in Lagos in December of this year, ”he said after the meeting.

He said the President’s response to the invitation was positive

“Yes, the answer is yes because it prides us as a nation to be able to build something from A to Z by our own shipyard,” he added.
