Ebenezer Ayeni, a final year student at Ibadan Polytechnic, who was preparing for his wedding on June 19, was reportedly killed Thursday evening by armed robbers, who invaded the Ojoo neighborhood of Ibadan.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) learned on Friday that the deceased was a sophomore student in the National Higher Music Diploma, as well as the president of the school’s Christian Fellowship.
A source told NAN that the deceased, who lived in the Bodija neighborhood of Ibadan, was shot dead by armed thieves while visiting to see his mother in Ojoo.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident to NAN on Friday, saying police responded to a distress call from residents of the Oguntula area to Ojoo around 1:00 am on Thursday 6/10/2021, that suspected armed robbers had invaded the area and were wreaking havoc.
“By the time of reaching the crime scene, a certain Ebenezer Ayeni had already been shot and rushed to Oyemesi hospital, along with Olayemi Josiah, who had suffered cuts to his head and neck,” said Osifeso.
The PPRO said investigations were underway to apprehend the perpetrators. (NAN)
