    Aisha Buhari Cup: MTN Nigeria Cheers Super Falcons In Finals Against South Africa

    The Aisha Burahi Cup came to a fine close on September 21, 2021. The tournament which had run for a week closed off with a thrilling match between Nigeria and South Africa.

    Although the Super Falcons lost their game against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa, MTN Nigeria stood firm in its support of the women’s national team.

    Encouraging the Super Falcons after their game against South Africa, Adia Sowho, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Marketing Officer said, “Our Super Falcons were impressive in their game against South Africa today. We are proud to be associated with them and wish them the very best in their future games.”

    The game started rather slowly for the Super Falcons as Alozie Michell, the Nigerian Number 22 scored an early own goal putting South Africa in the lead in the 5th minute. The Banyana Banyana of South Africa went ahead to score two additional goals, leaving them in the lead by three goals at the end of the first half.

    The Super Falcons began the second half of the game in high spirits as Ikechukwu Vivian bagged a brace in the 46th and 54th minutes, bringing the score to 2-3. At full time, after an impressive play by both teams, South Africa went home with the trophy after emerging champions of the game with four goals.

    Among the dignitaries in the stands were the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and General secretary of FIFA, Fatma Samoura.

    Since the announcement of its partnership with the NFF, the telecoms giant, MTN has shown its unfaltering support to the National teams providing great viewing experience for fans and provisions of gears in the stadium.
