Abducted Lecturers, Students of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Regain Freedom

Teachers and students abducted from Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna, have been freed, an official said on Friday.

The institution’s public relations manager, Malam Abdullahi Shehu, made the revelation to Zaria in an interview with the Nigeria News Agency ((NAN).

Shehu said the two professors and six students were released Thursday evening and reunited with their families after spending 31 days in captivity.

NAN reports that armed men attacked the polytechnic on June 10 and took away teachers and students.

The incident resulted in the death of one student while others were injured.

Shehu declined to comment on the payment of a ransom for the release of professors and students, but told NAN their families had engaged in dialogue with their captors prior to their release.

He advised the students to be aware of safety and to avoid moving at night.

He assured the students and the general public of the improvement of security in the establishment. (NAN)
