Newcastle United have extended defender Lewis Hall’s contract until 2031, securing the long-term future of the England international at St James’ Park.
The 22-year-old left-back has signed a two-year extension to his previous contract, despite reported interest from Manchester United.
Speaking after the agreement, Hall described the new deal as a “really proud moment” and said he was delighted to continue representing the club he supported as a boy.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters. I know how much it means to them,” Hall said.
“To be able to bring joy to their faces, it’s a big thing for me. I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all.
“One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United.”
Hall joined Newcastle from Chelsea in 2023 and has since made 106 appearances for the club.
The defender also expressed his optimism about Newcastle’s direction under head coach Matthias Jaissle, praising the team’s strong start to the season.
“It’s a really good place to be. It’s really pleasing with how we’ve started the season, especially with the new gaffer and coaching staff coming in, and I think we can go on to achieve really big things,” he said.
Jaissle welcomed Hall’s contract extension, describing the defender as an important part of Newcastle’s long-term plans.
“He’s a very important player for us and for what we are building here,” Jaissle said.
The Newcastle manager also praised Hall’s mentality, work rate, defensive maturity and technical ability, adding that the young defender still has significant room for improvement.
Hall’s new contract underlines Newcastle’s confidence in his development and their intention to make him a key figure in the club’s future.
