Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed that he once accepted payment to pretend to have a physical disability during a staged church miracle service.
Solade made the disclosure in an interview with Feel Right News TV, monitored by PUNCH Online on Wednesday.
The actor said the incident occurred when he was still a student and had not yet gained recognition in the Nigerian film industry.
According to Solade, he was recruited to act as a cripple during the church service and was paid for his participation.
“I have been used for a miracle then, when I was not popular. I acted as a cripple, they paid, I used the money to drink, then I was a student,” he said.
The veteran actor explained that the incident happened during the early stages of his life, long before he became a household name in Nollywood.
Solade, however, declined to reveal the identities of those who allegedly organised the staged miracle, saying the individuals involved are still alive.
“The people involved are still alive; I just don’t want to mention names,” he said.
His revelation has renewed discussions about alleged staged miracles and the use of participants to create the impression of supernatural healings during religious services.
Solade’s account offers a personal recollection of an experience he said he participated in as a young student, before his acting career brought him widespread recognition.
