In a statement issued on Tuesday night, December 30, the President described the reforms as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to establish a fair, competitive, and robust fiscal framework for the nation.

The statement noted that the new tax laws, including those effective from June 26, 2025, and the remaining acts set for January 1, 2026, would proceed without delay.

According to the President, these measures aim not to impose higher taxes but to achieve a structural reset, promote harmonisation, safeguard dignity, and bolster the social contract between government and citizens.

“I urge all stakeholders to support the implementation phase, which is now firmly in the delivery stage,” Tinubu stated.

He acknowledged ongoing public debates over alleged alterations to certain provisions in the enacted laws but insisted no substantive issues justified halting the process.

“Absolute trust is built over time through making the right decisions, not through premature, reactive measures,” the President added.

Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to due process and the rule of law, pledging collaboration with the National Assembly to address any identified concerns promptly.

The Federal Government, he assured, remains dedicated to advancing the public interest through a tax system that fosters prosperity and shared responsibility.
