Grammy-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy has publicly distanced himself from a meme coin circulating online that falsely uses his name and likeness for promotion. In a statement posted to his official Instagram account, the Afrobeats star strongly condemned the cryptocurrency project, describing it as fraudulent and misleading.
“I don’t do any internet ‘coin’ business. I see it as fraud and I have no interest in any of that,” Burna Boy stated. “So if you see anyone using my name for such, please disregard or report them.”
His remarks follow growing attention surrounding the meme coin on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where promoters have allegedly linked the token to the artist in a bid to gain traction.
Burna Boy emphasized that he has no involvement in any crypto ventures and warned fans to remain vigilant against scams or digital schemes that misuse celebrity identities. He urged the public to report any individuals or platforms falsely claiming his endorsement.
