FG Freezes Accounts of #EndBadGovernance Sponsors, Places Them on Watchlist

In a move against the sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protests, Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) authorities have announced the placement of these individuals on a national watchlist. Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap revealed the development during a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

Nandap indicated that these sponsors, currently residing abroad, will be arrested upon their return to Nigeria. This action follows a high-level strategy meeting led by Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and attended by various intelligence and paramilitary agency heads.

The meeting aimed to enforce a crackdown order issued by President Bola Tinubu. Nandap stated, “The sponsors are now on our watchlist. Any attempt they make to enter the country will trigger immediate notification, leading to their detention and transfer to the relevant authorities.”

To bolster security, the NIS has increased its presence at land borders and airports, enhancing surveillance to deter foreign interference. Additionally, the Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly blocked certain bank accounts linked to these sponsors. DSS Director-General Yusuf Bichi, represented by spokesman Peter Afunanya, confirmed that while details of the sponsors remain undisclosed, the monitoring of their activities continues.
