President Bola Tinubu has appointed Gbenga Alade as the managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

Tinubu also approved the appointment of a new management team for AMCON, pending their confirmation by the senate.

Aminu Ismail, Adeshola Lamidi, and Lucky Adaghe were appointed as AMCON executive directors.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the President on media and publicity.

“The President expects unflagging dedication, professionalism, and dutifulness from the new appointees so as to ensure that the operations of AMCON are more efficient, transparent, and in consonance with his determination to sanitize the nation’s financial system to maximize value and enhance investor confidence in the Nigerian economy,” Ngelale said.

Alade’s appointment brings the tenure of Ahmed Kuru to an end.

Kuru was first appointed AMCON MD by former president Muhammadu Buhari in August 2015 and was reappointed in December 2020.
