2026 FIFA W/C Qualifiers: Doctor Khumalo, Former SA footballer Confident of Bafana Bafana Win Over Super Eagles

    Doctor Khumalo

Former South Africa international Footballer, Doctor Khumalo says he’s confident Bafana Bafana will overcome the Super Eagles in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.

Both Nigeria and South Africa find themselves in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers, alongside Rwanda, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and the Republic of Benin.

While the Super Eagles started their campaign with draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, South Africa secured a win against Benin but suffered a defeat at the hands of Rwanda.

In an interview with SABC News, Khumalo stated that South Africa’s performance at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, gives the team a big hope in their quest to qualify for the World Cup.

“For them to qualify, let’s not dismantle it; it’s not yet broken. So, let’s give Hugo [South Africa coach] support.

“Helman and the background staff, and the boys, let’s allow them to continue the way they did in Ivory Coast.

“I would like to believe that Nigeria is in our group, but from what I have seen in Ivory Coast, I can bet all my money that SA can overcome that obstacle.”
