A sales representative, Victor Okuode, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N6.3 million.

Okuode, 45, who resides at 9, Kofowora St., Awori Bus Stop, Abule Egba, Lagos, is being tried for fraud and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Raphael Donny, told the court that the offences were committed sometime in June at No. 76, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja.

Donny said that the defendant defrauded his employer, Post Chemicals Industries Ltd., of the sum of N6.3 million, being proceeds of sales.

The prosecutor said that it was discovered that the money was missing after the company’s accounts were audited.

He alleged that the defendant diverted the money to his own personal use.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 335 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The Senior Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Odubayo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Odubayo adjourned the case until Aug. 10 for mention. (NAN)
