NCS Bars Ecobank from Collecting Import Duties

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has suspended Ecobank Plc from its Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS) II platform.

As a result of the suspension, importers and agents will not be able to pay import duties or other approved Customs charges through the bank.

Customs did not state any reason for the bank’s suspension.

“This is to inform all our esteemed stakeholders and the general public that Ecobank has been suspended from the NICIS II platform/system.

In view of this development, all consignees/declarants are advised to make their declarations via other financial institutions/banks,” a memo sighted by SHIPS & PORTS at the Tin Can Island Area Command of the NCS on Tuesday read.
