Bandits Now Terrorists as Nigerian Govt Gazettes Order

The Nigerian government published a High Court order on Wednesday outlawing the bandits and declaring their activities terrorism.

In the official gazette entitled Notice of Order Banning Terrorism (Prevention), 2021 and published on Wednesday by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the federal government relied on the order of the Federal High Court, Abuja in the lawsuit No .: FHC / ABJ / CS1370 / 2021.

The order was granted on November 25, 2021.

1. SUCH ORDER is hereby made stating the activities of the First Respondent (Yan Bindiga Group), Second Respondent (Yan Ta adda Group) and other similar groups anywhere in Nigeria, especially in the North West and North Central Regions of Nigeria . as acts of terrorism and illegality.

2. SUCH ORDER is issued outlawing the First Respondent (Yan Bindiga Group), the Second Respondent (Yan Ta adda Group) and other similar groups anywhere in Nigeria, especially in the North-West and North-Central Regions of Nigeria either in groups or as individuals by whatever name they are called and publishing them in the Official Gazette and two (2) National Newspapers.

3. SUCH ORDER is hereby issued prohibiting any person or group of persons from participating in any way in any form of activities that involve or are related to the prosecution of the collective or other intention of the First Respondent (Yan Bindiga Group ) and the Second Respondent (Yan Ta adda Group) under any other name or platform, regardless of what it is called or described.

4. SAID ORDER is issued against the groups declared in the application as Ist and 2nd Defendants and all other similar criminal groups operating anywhere in Nigeria with a view to carrying out banditry, kidnapping for ransom, kidnapping for marriage, kidnapping mass of schoolchildren and other citizens, theft of cattle, slavery, imprisonment, severe deprivation of physical freedom, torture, rape, sexual slavery, forced prostitution, forced pregnancy, other forms of sexual violence, attacks and murders in communities and other travelers and wanton destruction of lives and property in Nigeria.
