Gunmen kill three in Awka

Three people were reportedly killed by gunmen in Awka, Anambra state’s capital on Tuesday December 14.

The incident occurred ahead of a planned protest by tricycle operators in the state today December 15. The planned protest is linked to the high fees imposed on the transporters by their leaders

The three victims were shot dead at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Junction and one of the three persons killed is reportedly a tricycle operator.

A senior police officer confirmed the incident and blamed it all on cultists.

He told The Nation that the command had mapped out strategies to curb rampant cultism in the state, adding that Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, had deployed men to investigate the killings.
