Police Arrest Railway Vandals and Recover Stolen Tracks

Four persons have been arrested by the police over alleged vandalism and theft of rail tracks, sleepers in Ebonyi State.

Okeke Chinonso, 32, and Ogonna Igwe, 37 who are reportedly drivers, were arrested by operatives of the Railway Police Command alongside scrap collector, Nwogha Nnaemeka, 32, and farmer, Ebuka Donatus, 52.

They were alleged to have vandalised rail track irons and rail sleepers around Amaeze Ishiagu community in Ivo council.

They were intercepted in the wee hours of April 2 and 3, with vandalised rail tracks and sleepers loaded in two trucks.

The police said the trucks with registration numbers NSR899ZU and EDA231XB were intercepted around 3am of both days and found to be laden with the stolen rail tracks and sleepers.
