United States Embassy in Abuja has cautioned Nigerians on the grave consequences of visa fraud, stressing that falsifying information or presenting forged documents during visa applications could result in lifetime travel bans.

US Visa Fraud
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, the Embassy said: “Visa fraud has serious consequences. Lying or providing fake documents can lead to permanent visa bans under U.S. immigration law. This means you will never go.”
The warning coincided with a meeting between U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, where both officials discussed areas of bilateral cooperation.

According to the Embassy, the United States remains committed to strengthening ties with Nigeria on issues of mutual concern, including security and economic development.
Ravenewsonline reports that the advisory comes amid heightened international attention on Nigeria’s internal security challenges, with some U.S. lawmakers recently raising concerns about attacks on communities in the North and Middle Belt.
Stakeholders have urged Nigerians seeking U.S. visas to adhere strictly to immigration rules, noting that fraudulent practices not only damage individual prospects but also tarnish Nigeria’s global image.
