American rapper Lil Poppa, real name Janarious Wheeler, has died at age 25.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner in Georgia confirmed Wheeler’s death on Wednesday, February 18, at around 11:20 a.m. local time, according to TMZ reports.
Officials stated the cause remains under investigation.
The Jacksonville, Florida-based artist, signed to Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group (CMG), released his single “Out of Town Bae” on February 13—five days before his passing.
Lil Poppa was set for a March performance in New Orleans.
His 2021 hit “Love & War” from the album Blessed, I Guess marked his breakthrough, alongside collaborations and mixtapes like Under Investigation.
