United States President Donald Trump has launched TrumpRx.gov, a self-branded website linking Americans to steep discounts on prescription drugs, including GLP-1 weight-loss treatments from Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk.

Speaking at the White House Thursday night, February 5, Trump announced: “Starting tonight, dozens of the most commonly used prescription drugs will be available at dramatic discounts for all consumers.” Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic drops from over $1,000 monthly to $199, while Eli Lilly’s Wegovy falls from $1,300 to $199, with prices rising gradually after two months.
The platform, debuting with over 40 drugs, lets users search medications, print coupons, and redeem at pharmacies via drugmakers’ discount programs. Officials showcased the first user accessing cut-rate fertility meds, with CMS head Mehmet Oz noting boosted access potential.
Trump tied the move to global pricing inequities—“Americans have long paid higher drug prices than people in other parts of the world”—and recent “Most Favored Nation” deals pressuring firms with tariff relief. He has also leaned on Britain and France for similar terms, irking leaders like Emmanuel Macron.
The initiative counters rising costs ahead of November midterms, where weak economic approval ratings threaten Republican congressional control. Trump warned losses could spark impeachment bids.
