    Tinubu Fires Service Chiefs, Appoints New Ones

    President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate retirement of all Nigeria’s military chiefs and named replacements for them.

    This was contained in a statement signed by Willie Bassey, Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Federal Government.

    The president also approved names of persons to take over from the retired service chiefs.

    The new security heads will be working in acting capacity pending the confirmation of their appointments by the Senate.

    As it stands, the new service chiefs will replace Major-General Lucky E.O Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff and Air-Vice Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amao, Chief of Air Staff.

    Ribadu will take over from Babagana Monguno as National Security Adviser.
