FG approves N70,000 as new minimum wage

President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review the national minimum wage law every three years.

This announcement was made by Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information, at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, July 18. The decision was revealed during an ongoing meeting with leaders of the organised labour unions.

Key figures at the meeting include Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Comrade Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), along with several members of their unions.

The labour leaders had previously advocated for a minimum wage of N250,000.
