President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate replacement of Nigeria’s service chiefs in a major shake-up aimed at strengthening the country’s security architecture.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Mr. Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication.

According to the statement, General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

Other appointments include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff.

Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The President expressed appreciation to the outgoing service chiefs for their dedication and service to the nation, noting their contributions to maintaining national security.

He urged the newly appointed officers to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“All appointments take immediate effect,” the statement added.

Ravenewsonline reports that the changes come amid ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to reposition the military for enhanced operational efficiency and national defense.
