Thousands Remain Missing as Nepal Flood Death Toll Nears 1,000

At least 939 people have been confirmed dead, while nearly 4,500 others remain missing following devastating flash floods in Nepal.

The disaster was triggered by a massive surge of freezing water and debris after a glacial collapse near the China–Nepal border. The floods swept through several areas, causing widespread destruction and leaving communities struggling to recover.

Rescue teams continue to search for survivors and those still unaccounted for. In Nuwakot district, emergency personnel were seen clearing debris and recovering belongings from areas inundated by the floods.

Authorities have warned that rebuilding damaged infrastructure and communities could cost billions of dollars, highlighting the enormous scale of the disaster.

With thousands still missing, rescue and recovery operations remain ongoing as Nepal confronts one of its most devastating recent disasters.
