Viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to even greater sporting variety, with some thrilling action coming their way on ESPN and ESPN 2 from Friday 27 November to Thursday 3 December 2020.

DStv and GOtv is your home of the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network.

ESPN

Tuesday 1 to Thursday 3 December offers National Basketball Association (NBA) fans the chance to take in the latest news and views with live airings of The Jump (09:00 PM LIVE on ESPN, also live on Monday 30 November), while American Football enthusiasts will have NFL Live (10:00 PM LIVE on ESPN).

One of the major pieces of news from the NBA has been small forward DeMar DeRozan exercising his player option for the upcoming season to remain with the San Antonio Spurs. “I’m back San Antonio!” DeRozan said in a tweet sent by the team. “Looking forward to training camp and building on the high level of play we showed in Orlando.”

DeRozan, 31, continued his steady production last season, averaging 22.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 34.1 minutes per game. His 53.1 shooting percentage from the field was a career high.

ESPN 2

The first live National Football League (NFL) match available to viewers this week arrives on the morning of Friday 27 November and sees the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Baltimore Ravens at the Heinz Field (03:15 LIVE on ESPN 2).

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is comfortably leading the league in terms of touchdowns from empty sets, explaining: “When we’re in those sets, a lot of times, a lot falls on the line, too, because there’s not a lot of protection. You don’t have tight ends blocking. You don’t have a back in there helping. So it’s five guys on whoever’s rushing.

“You know, we’re putting up good numbers when we’re in those personnel groups, but really it starts up front with those guys giving me time to then get the ball to the play makers and let them make their plays.”

NCAA College Football is a feature presentation on the evenings of Friday 27 into Saturday 28 November, as well as Saturday 28 into Sunday 29 November, with three consecutive matches in each stretch which will showcase future stars of the National Football League (NFL) (08:00 PM, 09:30 PM and 02:30 AM LIVE on ESPN 2).

Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask has emerged as a major contender for the Heisman Trophy, though he is being pushed hard for the honour by Alabama’s Mac Jones, Justin Field of Ohio State and Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence.

“The more success teams have sometimes, the more individual awards come,” Florida coach Dan Mullen said of Trask. “If we keep being successful as a team, we keep making plays, he’s going to have the opportunity to get individual awards.”

Sunday 29 into the early morning of Monday 30 November sees a trio of NFL matches, with the Colts v Titans and Buccaneers v Chiefs (07:00 PM and 10:25 PM LIVE on ESPN 2) followed by the Green Bay Packers v Chicago Bears (03:20 AM LIVE on ESPN 2).

The final live NFL match action for the round arrives on the morning of Tuesday 1 December with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Seattle Seahawks (03:15 AM LIVE on ESPN 2).
