Quentin Griffiths, 58-year-old co-founder of British online fashion giant Asos, has died after plunging from the 17th floor of his condominium in Pattaya, Thailand.
Emergency services discovered his body directly below the balcony on February 9, with officers noting no signs of disturbance inside the locked apartment.
While initial probes suggest suicide and CCTV shows no intruders, Thai police have not ruled out foul play pending full post-mortem results, which may take months.
Dispute with Ex-Wife Amid Probe
The tragedy coincides with an ongoing investigation into allegations by Griffiths’ Thai ex-wife, who accused him of forging documents to sell land and shares in their joint company, allegedly pocketing £500,000.
Griffiths, arrested and questioned last year, denied the claims and was released, but the case persisted at the time of his death.
A family source described the circumstances as a “real mystery,” with “suspicious circumstances” mentioned, though details remain unclear.
From Asos Origins to Thailand Life
London-born Griffiths helped launch Asos in 2000 with Nick Robertson and Andrew Regan, serving as marketing director until 2005.
The retailer ballooned into a £3 billion global brand, favoured by figures like the Princess of Wales and Michelle Obama.
He later cashed out £15 million in shares by 2010, plus more in 2013, but sued accountants BDO over tax advice that cost him over £4 million on sales exceeding £10 million from Asos and his other venture, Achica.
Father of three, Griffiths relocated to Thailand around 2007, remarried a Thai national with whom he had two children, before their separation years ago.
