Former BBNaija star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has denied allegations that she defrauded a woman of N5 million, days after her arrest in Lagos.
Tacha was arrested at her Lagos residence on Sunday, August 30, after reportedly failing to honour police invitations over the allegation.
Speaking in an interview with our reporters on Thursday, the reality TV star said the controversy stemmed from an online accusation made by a social media user, Olajide, also known as @joph007_.
Olajide had alleged that Tacha collected N5 million from a woman who was seeking financial assistance for her husband’s kidney transplant.
Tacha, however, dismissed the allegation as false and said she had never had any contact with the woman in question.
“I have never spoken to the woman in question before,” Tacha said.
“Somebody just came online and accused me of collecting N5 million from a woman who is seeking financial assistance for her sick husband. Meanwhile, I have never spoken to the woman before.”
The former BBNaija housemate also accused Olajide of making derogatory comments about her, including referring to her as “Ashawo” and making other remarks about her character.
According to Tacha, the situation escalated after the allegations gained traction on social media, eventually leading to police involvement.
She said her legal team initially approached the matter as a civil case before it later became the subject of a criminal investigation.
Tacha maintained that the N5 million fraud allegation was completely untrue and said she was cooperating with the authorities to clear her name.
The reality TV star’s arrest and the allegations against her have continued to generate reactions on social media, with the matter now subject to ongoing investigation.
