Soludo’s spokesperson rejects Ekwunife’s purported apology following infidelity claim

Mazi Ejimofor Opara, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), has described as “fake news” the apology purportedly tendered by Senator Uche Ekwunife to Anambra First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, over the controversial paternity allegations.

Ekwunife, deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial election, had accused Soludo’s wife of infidelity. She also made controversial allegations about the paternity of her children.

Nonye Soludo responded, demanding a retraction and apology from Ekwunife.

An apology purported to be from Ekwunife was shared online but has now been rejected by Soludo’s camp.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, September 17, and signed by the Anambra State Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, Soludo’s aide said the apology did not emanate from the lawmaker and therefore lacked credibility.

He alleged that the said publication emanated from Ekwunife Campaign Organisation. He added that the publication captioned “EKWUNIFE CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION DISOWNS AND CONDEMNS MALICIOUS ARTICLE ASSOCIATED WITH HER” was fabricated by one Tony Ezike, who claimed to be one of the media aides to the Senator.

Opara, urged the public to disregard the publication. He called on Senator Ekwunife, who is also the deputy candidate to Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the forthcoming November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election in the state, to tender an apology that would be personally signed by her.
