    Soludo Re-elected as Anambra Governor with Landslide Victory

    Soludo appoints Osun, Abia indigenes as permanent secretaries

    Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, Nov. 8.

    Soludo, the incumbent governor, secured a resounding victory with 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes.

    The State Collation Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, announced the results on Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Awka after collating results from all 21 local government areas (LGAs).

    According to INEC, a total of 584,054 votes were recorded across the state.

    Other parties in the race included the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which polled 8,208 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which managed 1,401 votes.

    Soludo recorded overwhelming victories in key LGAs such as Aguata, where he polled 35,559 votes, and Anambra West, where he secured a commanding 71,365 votes. APC’s strongest showing came from Anambra West as well, with 16,595 votes.

    Reacting to the outcome, Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for renewing their trust in his leadership, promising to consolidate on his administration’s achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy.

    The election was largely peaceful, with reports of high voter turnout in several LGAs including Awka South, Ogbaru, and Njikoka.

    INEC officials commended the electorate for their orderly conduct and reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to credible and transparent elections.
