    Senate Honors Toddler Killed by NDLEA Bullet, Seeks ₦200m for Bereaved Family

    Senate has recommended the payment of N200 million to the family of 2-year-old baby, Ivan Onose Omhonrina, who was accidentally shot de@d during a raid on a notorious drug joint by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Delta State on July 13, 2023.

    Late Onose and his younger brother, Eronmosele, were shot at their mother’s shop when NDLEA operatives raided the drug joint at Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

    The stray bullet fired by one of the officers hit Onose’s abdomen and brushed his brother, Eromonsele’s eye.

    The victims were rushed to the FMC for surgery but sadly, Ivan could not survive it.

    During plenary today, the matter came up following a petition submitted by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Senator Neda Imaseun.

    The lawmakers observed one minute silence for the deceased and then moved for a N200 million compensation to be paid to the family.
