    Prelate Advocates e-transmission of Election Results

    The Prelate, Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Nzie Eze, has backed e-transmission of election results for the upcoming 2023 general election.

    Eze made this known at a news conference on Friday in Abuja to mark the 175th anniversary of the church in Nigeria.

    He enjoined the National Assembly to include e-transmission of election results in the new electoral bill.

    According to him, the church has seen the necessity to advocate e-transmission of election results in order to mitigate electoral malpractice in the country.

    “We support e-transmission of election results because we are living witnesses to what happened in the last Edo election and it gave us hope for the possibility of free and fairer elections in Nigeria.

    “We believe that it is not too late for the National Assembly to amend their decision on this, otherwise, the President should not sign the new electoral bill until the e-transmission is included.

    “We also pray that our president will write his name on the sand of time, as one of those leaders in our nation who significantly improved our electoral process.

    “With this, we believe that 2023 election will be the turning point of our country because as a church we also owe the nation our support and prayers,” he added.

    Eze also the Moderator of Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, stressed the need for a national conference to address the issues raised by various agitators.

    He called on the Federal Government to address the issues of insecurity, banditry and kidnapping, among others affecting the country.

    While thanking God for mercies in the past 175 years of existence of the church, Eze pleaded with other churches to unite and join hands with the government to ensure peaceful coexistence in the country.
